Before Artépy, the founder couple, François and Marie-Noëlle Plassard, already had the passion of tradition, know-how and creativity through their wool spinning and dyeing company intended for the famous carpet and rug designers of the time.
When their factory closed, François and Marie-Noëlle started to distribute luxury carpets and coverings and created their own brand: Artépy - from the French "Art du tapis".
In 1994, the founders were immediately attracted to an unknown material: Bolon. This highly complex material is unique due to the complexity of its vinyl weft and warp. It was intended for some still loosely-defined application (rotproof woven material for boats, balconies, saunas, etc.).
Thanks to their complementary skills, the couple found the product's true vocation: François for the technical side and Marie-Noëlle for creativity and marketing. Through close collaboration between Artépy and the Swedish manufacturer, the product was developed and finalised. Today, Bolon is distributed in 45 countries, with Artépy remaining the leading distributor in terms of volume and Bolon's privileged partner.
In 1998, still driven by the desire to innovate, Artépy launched Bamboo parquet flooring. The company is a pioneer in this field.
Following the sudden death of François Plassard at the beginning of 2006, Marie-Noëlle continues this adventure alone.
In 2009, Artépy took up a new challenge: create a DESIGNER-MANUFACTURER dimension. Both innovating and daring, the idea consists bringing contemporary art into the world of interior decoration. Oën decorative panels were born.
Since the very beginning and still today, the passion for tradition, know-how and creativity is the President-Founder's driving force. This passion has been instilled into the entire team.
